Take Auction: The 2023 NFL Draft
The 2023 NFL Draft Take Auction. Adam and Michael have gathered today in the prestigious halls of the internet to bid on takes from the 2023 NFL Draft
Today we gather in the prestigious halls of the internet to bid on certain takes stemming from the 2023 NFL Draft. The customers today will have the ability to bid on a selection of takes, with the highest bidder getting the take. Then at the end of the season, The take will be appraised to see if their purchase appreciated in value.
The Rules:
- The participants start with a $200,000 bankroll.
- After the initial bid, all subsequent bids must be an increase of at least $5,000
- Once the bid is final, the price is locked in.
- The opening price and postseason appraisal are both estimated by experts in the field (e.g. Me). The price is based on how likely the take is, with likely outcomes having a lower price than unlikely outcomes. No Risk, No Reward
- A bonus bet will be placed at the end where participants can use any of their remaining bankrolls to bid with the outcome paying out like gambling odds.
With the Rules stated let’s get started
LOT #0001: Dalton Kincaid over 4.5 touchdowns
An opening bid here of $40,000
MIKE: As the resident, card-carrying member of Bills Mafia here at Talent Alone, I will go ahead and start the bidding here offering the opening price. The whole allure of Kincaid for Buffalo was getting a slot-receiving option at a TE price. While McDermott has shown to not give his rookie weapons a lot of playtime in the past, I expect Kincaid to get plenty of action in red-zone situations.
ADAM: I agree…. Sort of. If their name isn’t Diggs or Allen they aren’t the red-zone threat they appear to be. HOWEVER, is Kincaid in the Cole Beasley role? I’m willing to bid the total up to $45,000 here
MIKE: For the record, I wanted Michael Mayer. Since Brandon Beane went against my almighty wisdom I’m expecting Kincaid to deliver. $50,000
ADAM: $55,000
MIKE: I’m going to give you this one in an attempt to reverse jinx the Bills and hope Kincaid ends up snagging 12 touchdowns this season.
Winner: Adam
Price: $55,000
LOT #0002: Bijan Robinson over 1000 yards from scrimmage
An opening bid here of $25,000
ADAM: I’ll take that at the opening price. Not the hottest take in the world, but if Ridder continues to be bad and Arthur Smith continues to hate Kyle Pitts (and fantasy football, Jeff) with every fiber of his body, Bijan over 1000 yards is a walk in the park.
MIKE: Tyler Allgeier put up over 1000 yards in his rookie year with Atlanta and could limit Bijan Robinsons’ production, HOWEVER, you don’t take a running back in the top 8 if you don’t plan on featuring him in your offense. I’ll go up to $40,000
ADAM: $50,000
MIKE: $60,000
ADAM: $65,000
MIKE: $70,000
ADAM: OUT. Price is up almost 3x the opening bid.
Winner: Mike
Price: $70,000
LOT #0003: Will Levis will have a 250-yard+ game this season
An opening bid here of $10,000
ADAM: Something this cheap? Hell yes. Is it likely? Sort of. You think I would have more confidence in the opening prices that I set. I’ll take that at $10,000
MIKE: The price is low, and it’s normal to see a QB come out and throw the ball 40-plus times in today’s NFL. Add that to the injury history of Ryan Tannehill and I’ll take a flier on this one at $15,000.
ADAM: $25,000. Maybe I’m just rolling off the adrenaline of that one Reddit post.
MIKE: Much like every team in the first round when it came to Levis, I’m gonna pass.
Winner: Adam
Price: $25,000
LOT #0004: Jalin Hyatt will lead the Giants in Receiving Yards
An opening bit here of $35,000
ADAM: I’ll take it at that price. I gotta be honest though, it’s a little lower than I expected. Hyatt has some sneaky competition on that team between Darren Waller, Isaiah Hodgens, and Wan’Dale Robinson. I could probably be talked out of this one.
MIKE: I’ll up it to $40,000. You and I might end up fighting for this one, Hyatt was one of my favorite day-two picks. While we’re talking gambling, FanDuel currently has Hyatt +2500 to lead the rookie class in receiving yards. I really like those odds.
ADAM: Oh man the bidding is on. $50,000
MIKE: I’ll stay in and kick it up to $60,000
ADAM: $65,000. I feel like I already forgot my first line in this particular bid.
Winner: Adam
Price: $60,000
LOT #005: Joey Porter Jr. Will lead all rookies in INTs
An opening bid here of $50,000
MIKE: I’ll get the bidding started here as well at $50,000. Porter is going into a great situation in Pittsburgh. He’s going to a team that can already stop the run and generates pressure on the QB. This could be favorable to teams feeling forced to throw and for QBs being pressured into tossing up some gimme picks for Porter Jr.
ADAM: I think I would take Gonzalez or Witherspoon ahead of Porter. This just barely cleared my “FUCK YOU” bar. I want to stay in but I have to think of the value elsewhere. The take is all yours at 50 Gs
Winner: Mike
Price: $50,000
BONUS LOT: OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
ADAM: I know QBs don’t win this award every year, and he’s not exactly Andrew Luck, but *Vince McMahon voice* LOOK AT HIM. $55,000
Anthony Richardson at +700
Price: $55,000
MIKE: I’ve waved the Bryce Young flag throughout the NFL Draft process and have been adamant that he’s the best QB in the class.
Bryce Young +460
Price: $80,000
