WWE SurvivorSeries: WarGames – Predictions

Survivor Series Prediction Thumbnail

IT’S PLE (trademark TKO Enterprises LLC) WEEK!

That of course means Talent Alone is back to get to getting, and brother, the getting is good. WWE SurvivorSeries: WarGames, the turducken of PLE’s, is on for San Diego in a stacked card of 2 fake matches and 2 real ones. We at Talent Alone predict every PLE/PPV for the year and track it to see who the ultimate smark is and who is just an IWC Dork who posts on r/WrestlingCircleJerk “ironically.” Coming off the ultra-marathon of AEW Full Gear, I have made up tons of ground on Mike, by which I mean I got one more match right than he did as I went 4-5 (Year total: 45-37) and Mike went 3-6 (Year total: 54-28). Good thing the goal is to be funny and not smart.

With all that said, get ready for our set of predictions that are longer than the actual PLE will be!

Men’s WarGames Match:

CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso), and Roman Reigns vs The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar

ADAM: These 8 Wrestlers have been circling each other for months, dating back to before SummerSlam. It’s become this deeply interwoven clash between competitors that WWE has boasted as its brand for the top worker for the last several years. All of that work culminates in a match I won’t watch because Lesnar is involved. Hey, we all have our lines somewhere, right?

THE VISION, LOGAN PAUL, DREW MCINTYRE, AND BROCK LESNAR

MIKE: If I have to see Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns in the ring together one more time, I’m going to superman punch myself in the face repeatedly. I think that this is yet another singles match between the two, but they just being in close proximity to each other is groan-inducing for me personally. Outside of that one bugaboo, the setup to this match was good in that all the participants made sense, and no wrestler got ham-fisted in their out-of-nowhere to fill out the teams. With the change of direction the Vision is currently going through, along with the teased animosity between the trio of Rhodes, Punk, and Roman, my money is on the heel team to win this one.

THE VISION, LOGAN PAUL, DREW MCINTYRE, AND BROCK LESNAR

Women’s WarGames Match:

Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and AJ Lee vs Nia Jax, Lash Legend, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), and Becky Lynch

MIKE: I’d like to think the heel team would go over here to bolster that side of the company’s women’s roster and help create good options for future title programs. However, they had the opportunity to do that back at Crown Jewel in Perth with the Kabuki warriors and opted to have Ripley and Sky go over, so needless to say, I’m not holding my breath. With how much the company likes to slow-burn things now and stretch out feuds, I expect we see the babyfaces win when Becky Lynch taps out to AJ Lee. Thus continuing the build to an eventual singles match between the two.

RHEA RIPLEY, IYO SKY, ALEXA BLISS, CHARLOTTE FLAIR, AND AJ LEE

ADAM: I think Mike has the right of it here, but more from the regard that WWE isn’t going to have the heels go over in both matches, and I feel like the heels are no question going to win the men’s match. Here’s hoping I’m wrong about both because that is simply more fun.

RHEA RIPLEY, IYO SKY, ALEXA BLISS, CHARLOTTE FLAIR, AND AJ LEE

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:

John Cena (c) vs Dominik Mysterio

ADAM: This build was a really contrived way to have Cena hold the IC belt for the first time in his career, featuring the only time in WWE history when someone was punished for interrupting a promo. I really like both of these wrestlers for two very different reasons, and Cena has been on a quiet roll since moving off the heel attempt. They will either be the best or second-best match. Not that there’s a ton of competition.

DOMINIK MYSTERIO

MIKE: I agree that Cena’s farewell tour has been much better ever since they abandoned their attempt at a FAILED heel run. Putting the IC title on Cena was seemingly done to have him win the one notable title missing from his resume, and add a surprise twist to this last month of his career. Some will cry about him beating a hot young act in Mysterio; however, it does give Cena something interesting to do instead of just waiting around for “the last time is now” tournament to conclude. The conventional thought here is that the company is going to quickly move the belt back to Dom, but what if they didn’t? Why not keep the unpredictability going of Cena holding a belt with only roughly two weeks to go before his final match?

Women’s World Championship Match:

Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs Nikki Bella

MIKE: Remember earlier when I was talking about how the company should take steps to build up some heel women to create good championship challengers? Case in point. I just don’t get why you put Bella in this spot other than to just have Vaquer beat a legacy act. However, that begs the question: how much of a boost does she really get by beating Nikki Bella? For a decade, the company has done everything it can to prop up Bella’s impact on the history of the women’s division, but a fair share of their fans hopefully see through the propaganda. It’s slightly revisionist history when you consider that the Bellas twins’ time on top ran parallels with a very low point for women’s wrestling in WWE. I see absolutely no logical reason for Nikki to dethrone Vaquer in this match, and would consider it a huge error in judgment if the powers that be decided to do so.

STEPHANIE VAQUER

ADAM: This feels like the one with the most chance of being a bonkers random outcome on this card. WWE loves the Bellas and doesn’t really seem to have a solid plan for the Women’s World Title. Bella was roped into this out of seemingly nowhere with a heel turn, but I think there’s a chance that WWE says, “You know what’s entertainment? Belt changed!”

NIKKI BELLA

4 matches and 2 disagreements. Hell, this could be our most pivotal PPV of the year…. if the year comes down to one match.

Enjoy WarGames and be sure to come back here and take tons of screenshots because I will be changing every prediction to be correct after the PLE ends.
