Full Gear Predictions_Thumbnail

Talent Alone is BACK to predict more professional wrasslin’. It’s been a long layoff in our year-long prediction contest as our last PPV/PLE/STREAM/ELO was October 17th with Wrestledream. Where Mike went 5-3 (on the year: 56-25) and Adam went a heroic 6-2 (47-34) to inch closer to even in the contest. But that’s the past, and now is the future… er maybe its the present. Wait… when is the present?

No time to spiral because we have 8 more (main card) matches to predict live from Dougie Hamilton’s house. AEW Full Gear draws a card featuring 5 belts, $1 Million, and a gimmick for every match except for 1! Boy AEW loves to cram as much booking as possible into an 8.5 hour pay-per-view.

With all that previewed, let’s get to the predictions!

AEW Women’s World Championship:

Kris Statlander (c) vs Mercedes Moné

ADAM: I was so in on this being Moné’s moment, but then I heard a great take. Moné winning the top belt while holding all these other belts makes the AEW Women’s World Championship just another belt instead of the belt. I think the best course of action is to have Moné on the chase (even as a heel) until she drops the 95 other belts for the one that almost got away. For now, let’s learn from Jesse Plemons and keep an eye on the Andromidan.

KRIS STATLANDER

MIKE: I get the sentiment behind that take but I have to disagree. It shouldn’t be hard to subtly keep the AEW title framed as the final and most prestigious part of Monés collection. On the contrary, even with it surrounded by all those other random belts, if AEW’s audience doesn’t automatically perceive it as the most important, then the company has a larger, more overarching issue. My bigger concern is the damage it could do to Mercedes if she comes up short again.

MERCEDER MONÉ

Steel Cage Match for the AEW Men’s World Championship:

“Hangman” Adam Page (c) vs Samoa Joe

MIKE: This match will hopefully be an old-school physical and bloody cage match. No over-choreographed spots, just two bad ass dudes beating the shit out of each other. It’s a pretty safe lock that Hangman retains, but if I’m not mistaken, isn’t MJF still out there somewhere with his casino double or all out dynamite contract?

“HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE

ADAM: God, don’t remind me about the whole “I get a match AND get to keep the contract” thing. This will, of course, be a great match, and a Steel Cage means there will have to be some art in how Hangman gets his Buckshot. I think it’ll probably be dampened by being the 3rd or 4th match of the night to feature color, but hey, as the Beetles say, the world is a vampire.

“HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE

AEW World Tag Team Championship:

Brodito (Bandido & Brody King) (c) vs FTR

ADAM: Who doesn’t love them some Brodito? They’ve been really fun, but it’s kind of like talking to film critics about the MCU. They have to say “it’s fun!” Because they don’t want to compliment it, but also don’t want to be the guy that’s too pretentious to like superhero movies. Anyway, Brodito is Ant-Man, and no, I don’t mean the cool one.

FTR

MIKE: In agreement on this one. Brodito’s been fun, we’ve had a great time, but it’s time for us to see other tag team champions. Based on TK’s comments on Ariel Helwani’s show, Copeland is indeed still under contract with AEW, so once he’s done doing whatever he has left to do, we should be getting the Cope/Cage vs FTR rematch. What better way to up the ante than to make it for the belts? Top guys back on top.

FTR

$1,000,000 Trios Match:

Kenny Omega & Jurassic Express vs The Young Bucks & Josh Alexander

MIKE: All signs point to Buck turning babyface and The Elite reuniting. I’m a mark, so I’ll pop whether I like the move or not. However, mark my words, someone is joining the Callis family on this show. It would be riddled with plot holes, but I’m not ruling out it being Jurassic Express. I still don’t trust that SOB Jack Perry.

THE YOUNG BUCKS & JOSH ALEXANDER

ADAM: Could this be the end of the Broke Bucks? Will they flash that cash and smash some ass? Look, the money aspect doesn’t make sense for Jurassic Express unless this is some way for Jack Perry to buy the rights to 90210.

THE YOUNG BUCKS & JOSH ALEXANDER

Casino Gauntlet Match for the AEW National Championship

ADAM: Ahh, the pendulum of AEW swings from “they have too many belts” to “they have way too many belts!” For those keeping track, we’re in a way too many belts era. This belt makes its way to AEW via Georgia Championship Wrestling and features a worthy list of competitors, such as TBD and TBA. I personally hope that it’s all a swerve and TK wins it before punting it into the arena and having a live sex celebration.

PAC, I MEAN, WHY NOT?

MIKE: I refuse to predict this match. I would rather take the L instead of being complicit and enabling this type of behavior from Tony Khan. This company has too many god damn titles. Adding yet another mid-card belt reeks of lazy booking. Why come up with compelling stories in the mid-card when you can just lean on the crutch of involving a title?

TAKING A KNEE

No DQ Match for the TNT Championship:

Kyle Fletcher (c) vs Mark Briscoe

MIKE: Probably going to get a lot of hate online for asking this, but am I the only one that’s kinda Mark Briscoe’d out lately?

KYLE FLETCHER

ADAM: I think we all accept the right spot for Briscoe is losing in a title match, right? Like, is anyone pounding the Briscoe world champ drum? Side question: how long until Kyle Fletcher is AEW Champion?

KYLE FLETCHER

Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron) vs Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue) vs Timeless Love Bombs (“Timeless” Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa) vs Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir

ADAM: Okay, so wait… the stipulation is that the winner gets to choose the stipulation for the semifinal match of the AEW Women’s Tag Belt Tournament. Those semifinals are Sisters of Sin vs Babes of Wrath and Timeless Love Bomb vs Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir. What describes this match and rhymes with blover blooked?

BABES OF WRATH

MIKE: Unlike the introduction of the National title, I will give my thoughts on this match because, I sir, am a feminist. I have the Love Bombs winning this whole thing because making the team with the most star power, the inaugural champs, is a good way to jump-start the history of that title. Speaking of star power, there’s enough of it in the Love Bombs vs Shafir & Bayne semi’s that the addition of some kind of gimmick would be best used on the other semi-final match-up.  Between those two teams, give the honors to the heels.

SISTERS OF SIN

No Holds Barred Match:

Jon Moxley vs Kyle O’Reilly

MIKE: Sure, you could have Moxley get some of his heat back by winning here, especially after tapping out in Blood War and Gut Games. However, I’m enjoying the Moxley crash out, and doubling down on an O’Reilly push wouldn’t be the worst idea.

KYLE O’REILY

ADAM: Damnit, I thought I’d be able to make up some ground on you here. I, like my esteemed contemporary, believe the plan is to launch Mox out of the Deathriders, and the best way to do that is to have him lose a few until Wheeler Yuta says words for one. -5000 on blood in this one.

KYLE O’REILY

Darby Allin vs Pac

MIKE: This match should be good, but it wins the “Couldn’t we just do this on Dynamite and not overload the PPV?” award. I feel very confident that the wheels are in motion for Darby to win the world title by the end of 2026. In the meantime, I don’t expect to see him lose too often, and when he does, it should be to names higher up on the food chain.

DARBY ALLIN

ADAM: Well, this is sure stepping on my Casino Match predictions, but these colors don’t run, and I refuse to change my mind after I’ve written down a prediction. Darby is an absolute star since climbing Mt Everest and then jumping all the way off to kick the shit out of Mox. I like what they’re doing with Pac, but this was just to get Darby on the PPV card, right?

DARBY ALLIN

9 main card matches, 3 pre-show matches that we will not predict because if you ain’t payin, we ain’t talkin about it, and 3 disagreements. Wait. 3? That’s it? I have so much ground to make up and we only disagreed on 3 matches??? Clean it up AEW make your booking less predicatable or more predictable. Either way I’m happy.

Come back soon to see our next predictions which might just be the BIGGEST WWE SHOW OF THE YEAR.
